Brief history of the LaunchPad Ramp

In December of 1995 Charles Grimes Jr., then a second year graduate student in the Eastern Michigan University department of Exercise Science, assisted Dr. Doug Briggs and his team of researchers to analyze the sprint starts of Donovan Bailey (CAN) and Allen Johnson (USA). His work stemmed the start of an idea that he would develop later with his own professional research at Malone College. As a former decathlete at Western Michigan University, (PB 6852) and head track and field coach at Malone, he utilized his results to develop a 6.3 degree ramp that significantly enhanced the start mechanics and take off dynamics of his athletes. He, with the assistance of Charles Grimes Sr., developed the prototype, and further tested his ideas with HS as well as Elite athletes. An in depth 6 month training research project was completed in June of 1998, and the LaunchPad was born. The C.R.G. Athletics Corp. is a partnership business formed by the father/son team to produce and market the invention. It has been in production since January of 2000 with sales now spanning the entire country and Canada. It is now listed as US patent #6,494,812 and can be viewed here.

With over 250 units out in the field, the LaunchPad has established itself because of it's simple but affective design. Easy to use, and virtually indestructible; no other product will serve more of your team for a longer period of time than the LaunchPad!
